2 pounds ground beef or plant-based crumbles
2 medium onions, chopped
2 green peppers, chopped
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup tomato sauce

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons hot sauce
4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
4 teaspoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons ground cumin

Preparation

In a large saute pan, over medium-high heat, crumble the beef. Add onion, green pepper and garlic and stir until the beef is browned and the vegetables are softened, about 8 minutes.
Stir in the tomato sauce, maple syrup, vinegar, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, cumin, chili powder, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer. Cook, uncovered, for about 5 minutes, until thickened. Serve on toasted buns.
